Wellness Programme Assessment
What is the Fitness Gram?
- The Cooper Institute defines it as follows: “A complete battery of health-related fitness items that are scored using criterion-referenced standards. These standards are age and gender specific and are established based on how fit children need to be for good health.”
- It includes a variety of tests designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition.
Why do we need to assess the children participating in the programme?
- The assessment will enable the Kinderkineticist to determine and monitor whether the programme that she presents is adequate for the child and whether he/she is showing improvement during the duration of the programme.
- The Fitness Gram assessment will make it easier to identify certain problem areas and it will help to ensure that every child reaches his/her full potential.
- It will help them to plan and set goals for themselves regarding fitness.
- It will serve as a motivational tool to remain active on their own.
